Adapted Physical Education (APE)

Advocate for inclusive PE practices for students with disabilities.


Provide resources and professional development for teachers on modifications and accommodations.


Contribute to policy and guidance documents related to IDEA compliance and individualized PE programs.


Support research and initiatives that improve APE delivery.

Promote and teach the Utah Physical Education Core Standards and Essential Elements


Secondary Physical Education

Develop and promote standards-based curriculum for middle and high school students.


Encourage evidence-based teaching strategies that engage adolescents.


Lead discussions on assessment, classroom management, and technology in secondary PE.


Represent the needs and challenges specific to secondary PE teachers.

Promote and teach the Utah Physical Education Core Standards


Elementary Physical Education

Champion developmentally appropriate physical activities for younger students.


Create and distribute teaching materials and lesson plans.


Provide input on state standards and curriculum frameworks.


Advocate for daily PE in elementary schools and support early motor skill development.

Athletics and Coaching

Promote ethical coaching practices and athlete-centered approaches.


Provide resources for coach education and training.


Advocate for balanced student-athlete development, including health, safety, and well-being.


Represent coaches' interests in policy discussions around school and youth sports.

Health Education

Develop and promote comprehensive and successful health-based practices.


Ensure alignment with the Utah Health Education Core Standards.


Advocate for health literacy, mental health, and wellness initiatives in schools.


Support professional development for health educators.


Higher Education

Represent faculty and researchers in kinesiology, health, and PE programs.


Contribute to the development of teacher preparation programs.


Support academic research and its application in Pre-K–12 settings.


Promote collaboration between universities and Pre-K–12 schools for internships and training.


Pre-service Teachers

Represent the voice and needs of students preparing to become educators.


Organize mentorship opportunities and networking events.


Help shape professional development resources aimed at new teachers.


Encourage active involvement in SHAPE Utah, SHAPE America, and other professional communities.


Media Coordinator

Manage communication efforts across social media, newsletters, and digital platforms.


Promote society events, resources, and advocacy efforts.


Highlight member achievements and innovative practices.


Ensure consistent and strategic messaging to internal and external audiences.
